Default The "Jousting Aces" Axis-vs-Allies Dirty Dogfighters Tournament

    Dear fellow SEOW Pilots,

I challenge Axis and Allied to take part in the

"Jousting Aces" Axis-vs-Allies Dirty Dogfighters Tournament.

In this tournament the best 4 Axis and best 4 Allied pilots are put against each other in a unique match up of different challenges. Score as an individual and as a team and bring victory to your whole group. So, take a look at the challenges, your team will face in the "Jousting Aces" Tournament.

    The Challenges:

3 different challenges are waiting for the pilots nominated to fight for their team in this tournament:
    • The 1vs1
    • The 2vs2
    • The 4vs4

For each challenge, certain rules apply - rules that the pilots won't know about until the day before the battle. Let me tell you that much:
    • Each challenge is fought under the same circumstances:
      • Same plane on both sides - unknown and constantly changing.
      • Same fuel used by every pilot - 100%
      • Same initial altitude for both groups - 2000 m
      • Same distance between the groups - 3 km
      • Same approach - Head-On!

    • Running away is impossible! - Leave the arena and you are out!
    • Cheating is impossible - the eventlog knows everything!

How to qualify for this event?
Prove to your team that you are an ace pilot and they will send you into the arena. Each team can freely choose their methods of determining their best 4 pilots.

    When and where?
16th of Feb. and 17th of Feb. on VARP's DF-Server.
The qualification period will end on 12th of Feb. and the final rules will be obtained on 15th of Feb. at 2200H CET.

    Interested?
Then ask among your ranks if your team wants to take part in this challenge and leave a comment below if they have the guts to accept that challenge.

Why not to make sort of TOP GUN competition like we had in Joint Ops school few years ago? All welcome, all equal chances to go trough qualifications during Day 1...on the Day 2 only the ones who qualified can compete, and anyone else is able to connect and watch.
I can send you this materials so you can go trough them and change what need to be changed. Over there it was not just shooting, it was bombing, wingmanship, racing, aircraft handling, landing on carrier, all vs all and stuff like this. Of course, at some point, judges are needed because rules were very clear and strict!
For me personaly, it was the best competiotion i ever saw in my IL2 career. It would be really interesting to see it again.

+1!May I invite outsiders too? ~S~PS: we will need judge(s) so I think I might call a few JointOps instructors with experience ...What we need to sort out is day/time when the tournaments will take place

    @Ovy: Sure..bring 'em in.

@Thor: I read the material and it sounds like great fun. However, there is a lot to consider and to organise this event will take some preparation. So I was thinking of something easier to organise:

The Jousting Aces Dirty Dogfighters 4vs4 tournament

This is a simple 4vs4 tournament to start with. Groups of 4 can register till registration period is over. Then, we simply put up a schedule where the registered teams fly against each other. The team with most victories will be the winner in the end.

This simple event can then be applied to other competitions too:

    - 2vs2
    - 1vs1
    - any other type of challange

Sure, organization time needed. The good thing from TOP GUN was that not only fighter pilots skill are required, but also aicraft handling, skip bombing etc. I would even go more in that direction because over here we have almost equal number of fighters and bomber guys. Why only fighters hould enjoy? Also, there must be some draw to pick the pairs.
But, since you started the idea, you definitely deserve to set the rules.

    It's simple:

I am a fighter pilot and hence this is supposed to be a man vs man event for fighter pilots It's easy to organise and will help all of us to keep our skills polished and get our hearts fired up.

Registration is open. One team is comprised of 4 pilots. To register, just name your team's name and the names of your four pilots. Registration is open until Feb. 10th.
After that, we will fix a date for the tournament. The rules and challenges will we announced on the challenge day! So, no one will know what this competition is about. That means equal chance for everyone as no one can prepare.
I will be the referee. I need 3 more referees for assistance. But don't worry. The referees can take part in the event too - out of competition though. They will fight against the winner of each stage in all challenges at the end.

To become a referee, the following is required:
    - you need to know the IL2 FMB and how to use it.
    - You need to be willing to be involved in some organisation procedure.
    - If you want to be part of the competition, you should not apply for referee.
    - convince me in a 1vs1 that you're good enough to compete with the winners in the end.
    - Your application is to be issued until Jan 25th.
